With Beautycounter you can earn from 4 different ways. It’s a bit relief for me because with many MLM’s there will be 10-15 ways you can money with them.

However, understanding the MLM compensation plans is not an easy task.

1.Retail Commission – 25% discount on products

2. Personal Sales Bonus – Based on your Personal Volume you will earn a sales bonus. You need to be aware that your personal orders are not included.

  • 750 – 1499 PV – 5%
  • 1500 – 2999 PV – 7%
  • More than 3000 – 10%

3. Override Commissions – This commission is based on the commissionable volume you generate by building your team.

Pro’s and Con’s

The Good:

→ 7+ Years In The Market

→ 60-Day Return Policy

→ Safe And Toxic-Free Products

The Bad:

→ Very Less Number Of People Are Making Money With Beautycounter

→ Success Rate Is Very Low With The MLM Business Model

→ Expensive Products – Selling MLM Products Is Not Going To Easy

→ Half Yearly Sales Quota – 1,200 in Qualifying Volume

→ To Make More Money You Need To Recruit More People

→ Only For US And Canada Residents

Is Beautycounter A Pyramid Scheme?

No, Beautycounter is not a pyramid scheme and they have a wide range of products. You can make money by selling their products without recruiting any members but without recruiting members it’s going to be a big challenge to earn a reasonable amount.

Is Beautycounter A Scam? - Is Beautycounter A Pyramid Scheme?

Is Beautycounter A Scam?

No, Beautycounter is not a scam. They have a wide range of products and offers a 60-day refund policy.

However, you can find some of my concerns below.

Very Expensive Products

While doing my research on some of the Beautycounter products I noticed they are very expensive and there are similar products at cheaper rates.

You might be aware of selling MLM products itself is a big challenge and selling expensive products is not going to be an easy task.

Let me ask you one thing…

Let us assume you sell one of the Beautycounter products to your friend and he/she finds similar products on Amazon at a cheaper price. What he/she will think about you and do you think they are going to buy from you the next time?

Very Less Number Of People Are Making Money With Beautycounter

When you look at the Income Disclosure Statement you can find a shocker there.

82.2% earning an average monthly income of $46 and 10.2% earning an average monthly income of $336.

So 92.4% of people are making less than $350 per month. Also, if you minus their expenses and purchases it’s going to be a lot less.

Their income disclosure statement itself giving us a red flag. You can check their Income Disclosure Statement HERE.

Sales Quota

Although it seems like they don’t have any monthly sales quota, you need to make 1,200 in Qualifying Volume (QV) every six months (you need to pay for this if you don’t sell it in order to gin the commissions).

Also, to achieve the Override commission for certain ranks you have a minimum Qualifying Volume.

Only For US And Canada Residents

Beautycounter is only available for the residents of the USA and Canada. If you are from any other country please don’t waste your time.

Success Rate Is Very Low With The MLM Business Model

For sure Beautycounter is not a scam. They use the MLM business model and even with the popular and genuine MLM companies many people are earning very less and losing money.

Only very few people make good money with the MLM business model. That’s the reason I often say the success rate is very low with the MLM business model. Newbies and people on the bottom of the ladder lose their money.

Not only with Beautycounter with the companies that are using the MLM business model the success rate is very low.

For more information, you can read my post “Network Marketing vs Affiliate Marketing – Pros And Cons“.

I am not against the MLM business model and I am not saying you can’t earn money with MLM. All I am trying to say is the success rate with MLM is very less and many people fail with MLM business.

Is TraVerus A Scam? - Success Rate Is Very Low With MLM Business Model

Among the 26% of people who made money nearly 14% made less than $420 a month (less than $5000 per year). So you can see a very less number of people make money via the MLM business model.

Often they are the people who joined when the company started and who have a big team under them and they are on the top of the ladder.

To Make More Money You Need To Recruit More People

To make more money you need to be in the higher rank and to be in the higher rank you need to have a big team under you and to have a big team you need to recruit more members or push the members in your team to recruit more people.

So recruiting people plays an important role in any MLM business model.

  1. Hello there, beauty counter is not a scam. The do have a good product line and its cheap to be a member. Unlike many other MLM company their renewal fee is paid yearly and it is affordable. Although their products are expensive I stilll believe they are worth giving a try Since they have good compensation plan.

  2. Hi paul! this is an amazing review you have got here. For me, I would not want to spend time doing a business in which the percentage of people making it there is very few and there is a probability that I might join the percentage that don’t make it there so its better I don’t get involved.

  4. Oh no. I never expected such a low BBB rating of D- from Beautycounter. It’s actually not encouraging in any way. The main reason I’d want to join Beautycounter is to make money with their products and especially with the MLM opportunity. Since it’s not as easy as it seems to make money with Beautycounter (plus reported earnings are low) and they have low ratings from customers, I’d better back off. Thanks for this review.

  6. Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here on this platform. Recruiting people into a business that you have not made reasonable income from it, is very hard here in this part of the world where I come from even for others and at such it might not be that profitable to sign up for (my opinion though).

    • With the MLM business model, the success rate is very low and many people lose their money. Personally I have come across people just giving wrong information about their earnings, in reality, they will earn a lot less.

Knowing 73-90% of people fail in this business it won’t be the best idea to recruit people and ask them to buy expensive products and ask them to recruit others.

  7. Hello there! Thanks a lot for this review… The problem with these online program is that most of them are not legit and you don’t expect someone that has been scammed before to get involved with such program again. This your review further increases my doubt in online pyramid scheme programs. I’ll definitely not involve myself in this. Thank you

    • Many MLM companies come very close to the pyramid schemes, although they have products the main focus is on recruiting people and the product is just for the namesake. Many MLM companies rep won’t take about the benefit of their product but they talk about the benefits and the ways you can money with them.

  8. I didn’t think either that Beautycounter would be a scam, but I always have issues with the way MLM works. So it’s good to see that there’s more people, like yourself, not recommending it . Although it doesn’t seem to be a pyramid system , I don’t trust this. Even more, I am sure that you can those beauty products a lot cheaper elsewhere, no? Thank you so much for your review !

    • Yes, there are better and cheaper options available online. I too don’t prefer or like the MLM business model because a lot of people are losing money with this MLM business model.

  9. Hey Paul, thanks for this useful review about Beautycounter, I love to know about beauty stuff, and I don’t like to spend my money  on expensive products that don’t work. Selling MLM products is indeed a big challenge, they end up being expensive and many times they have poor quality, so this is not my way.

I prefer make my earnings on as an online entrepeneur and your course is a great opportunity I want to try, I will share it with my friends too.

    Best regards,

    • You are correct in most cases the MLM products are very expensive and make it very hard to sell it. No one wants to spend more money and buy expensive products.
